ALA Dept. of Texas President Holly Heatly and Jeff Perkins, Past Dept. of Texas Commander, deliver $3000 of gift cards (60x $50) to the VA this morning on behalf of Irving Elk’s Lodge 2334 to benefit our veterans vetted through Social Services.

 

ALA Unit 453 donated $750 and Squadron 453 donated $250 to make an even $1000 donation the Pinkston High School JROTC! This will help so much in their competitions.  Way to go Cadets!!!

American Legion Post 453 and the VA received toiletries and donations for the Veterans. The project was a success. 

North Dallas High School ROTC Military Ball & Graduation.

Love Field Post 453 Legionnaire Eddie Reyes was the keynote speaker at the North Dallas HS ROTC Military Ball & Graduation. Legionnaire Reyes is an Army veteran of the Vietnam War.

 

Tote Bags for Dallas VA Hospital
Cindy and Bill Freauff completed the sewing of over 270 tote bags for patients undergoing Chemo treatments at the Dallas VA. The tote bags will will be filled with comfort items donated by other organizations. Cindy and Bill amassed 340 volunteer hours. Theresa Hill receives tote bags from Cindy.

Annual First Responders Thanksgiving Dinner

Love Field Post 453 hosts its annual twenty-four-hour First Responders Thanksgiving dinner for on-duty Dallas police, fire, and EMT personnel. Since 2016, we have delivered over 900 complete Thanksgiving meals to police and fire stations throughout Dallas. Our post is open from 2:00 PM Thanksgiving to 2:00 PM Friday for the convenience of our first responders.

 

Shirley Jean's Pajama Drive

American Legion Auxiliary member Shirley Jean started a pajama drive to provide the children of veterans with a new pair of pajamas for Christmas. Sadly, Shirley Jean is no longer with us, but her work to provide pajamas to deserving children is carried on by the Auxiliary of Love Field Post 453. To-date, Shirley Jean's Pajama Drive has donated over 7,500 pairs of pajamas. Pajama donations in sizes six-months to adult (for teenagers) may be dropped off at the post. Cash donations are also welcomed.

 

Operation Tiny House  

Offers housing opportunities for homeless Dallas veterans through tiny houses built by volunteers. These tiny houses and the veterans who live in them are brought together in communities/villages to work together and thrive together.
